John Denver was a superstar singer who touched millions by his popular-folk hits and many of them located in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was raised in Roswell New Mexico. However, he discovered love for Colorado. He later settled in Aspen. Denver's songs for his home state has drawn a lot of people to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the director of this hall of fame, stated: "I don't believe there is another performer that embodies Colorado like John Denver." Denver was the first Hall of Fame ever to be inducted. Denver is today the international face of Colorado. On my journeys around the world, I have met many individuals who do not hail from Colorado. They will say, "Oh John Denver!" When they hear you're from Colorado. Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's top 10 hits after he performed with smaller folk groups. The song was written and performed by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the track along with Johnny Cash in mind but the moment Denver heard an early version he knew right away the track could become a hit single. The song was recorded by the singer just a few days later after performing it to an enthusiastic audience in Washington D.C.
